What is Daxxify?
Daxxify is an injectable wrinkle treatment that is approved to improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines also known as "11's". Daxxify may also be used to treat other facial lines and wrinkles such as forehead wrinkles, bunny lines, crow's feet, dimples in chin, masseter muscles, and platysmal band in the neck.
How does Daxxify work?
Daxxify is injected directly into the muscles that are causing the wrinkles by using a very tiny needle. Daxxify works by temporarily blocking the nerves that tell the brain to make the facial muscles move. This stops the muscle from contracting causing the lines to soften. This will smooth existing wrinkles and prevent new expression lines from forming. Daxxify has a unique formulation: the toxin is attached to a protein which helps extend its effects. With Daxxify, you can begin seeing less movement within 2-3 days.
How long will Daxxify last?
Daxxify is uniquely long lasting, studies show an improvement in frown lines for up to 6 months compared to 3-5 months with other neuromodulators. Factors that influence how long it lasts include amount of used, history of usage, and lifestyle factors.
What should I avoid before Daxxify treatment?
Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil for 2 weeks prior to treatment. (Note: If your personal physician prescribed aspirin to you, do not stop aspirin without your physician’s approval). Taking arnica orally for a week before and after your treatment can help minimize bruising. We recommend waiting at least two weeks prior and two weeks after any dental cleanings and vaccines when receiving treatment.
What should I avoid after Daxxify treatment?
Don’t exercise, lay down for 5 hours, rub the area, go in a hot tub or Jacuzzi or do anything that will increase circulation to prevent the Daxxify from traveling too far. We do not recommend traveling on a plane for 72 hours after treatment.
