PRF Hair Restoration
PRF hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment that uses platelet-rich fibrin which is a natural substance from the patient’s own blood. The PRF restores inactive hair follicles and stimulates hair regrowth. Everyone’s blood contains plasma, and this plasma contains platelets and fibrin. The platelets contain growth factors which stimulate cell renewal and increase blood flow which helps stimulate dormant hair follicles to grow. When fibrin is also introduced to this process, it will stabilize the growth factors. As the dermis becomes stronger and new follicles surface your hair will continue to thicken.
How does it work?
This treatment involves two parts: first, a blood draw then, injections into the scalp. Before the treatment your scalp will be cleansed and numbed, and the blood will be drawn from your vein. The blood is placed into a centrifuge, which separates the plasma from the red blood cells. After separation. It is added to a syringe so it can be injected directly into the scalp in the areas that hair growth is desired. The treatment will take about one hour and during the consultation the provider will determine how many treatments you may need. Maintenance injections are usually recommended every 3-6 months.

How long will it last?
Final results are visible at 6-12 months. Being that the reason for hair loss is caused by many different things, results may not be permanent. Maintenance injections may be required every 3-6 months.
What should I avoid before treatment?
You will most likely need to avoid hair growth creams, ointments, and oral medications during and following treatments. You should also avoid any alcohol for 48 hours before treatment and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) drugs for 2 weeks before treatment. Avoid Omega 3s, fish oil and ibuprofen for two weeks before treatments. Hydration is key when it comes to obtaining enough quality PRF and better results. Do not use any retinol and acid products for 3 days before your appointment to avoid skin irritation.
What is the downtime and what should be avoided after treatment?
The majority of patients are able to return to regular activities after treatment. Most common side effects are minor swelling, bleeding, and bruising. After treatment you should avoid:
Washing your hair for 24-48 hours after
Try not to touch the site for 3 days
Limit sun exposure for at least a week
Avoid wearing hats/headbands for 3 days
Avoid strenuous physical activity and swimming for at least 3 days
