How does it work?
Sculptra is injected into the skin and acts as a collagen stimulator in the deep layers of your skin until you have enough to fill in the hollows that make your skin look thin. Unlike other fillers, Sculptra helps your body produce more collagen. It is your natural collagen proteins filling in and plumping your skin rather than something artificial. Sculptra restores volume and plumpness to make your skin look younger and renewed.
Am I a good candidate?
Most patients are candidates! If you were affected by weight loss and volume loss, you may be the perfect candidate for Sculptra. Those who are immunocompromised or who suffer with autoimmune problems should not consider Sculptra.
How long will it last?
After your procedure, it may take up to a couple months for your skin to look more voluminous since collagen synthesis can take months before finishing a complete cycle. The Sculptra will continue to work and produce collagen over time. The change will occur at a gradual pace. Once your optimal results are achieved, it will last from one to two years.
What should I avoid before treatment?
You should avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, and alcohol for 24-48 hours before the appointment. You may also want to talk to your doctor about stopping any blood thinners a couple of weeks before.
What is the downtime and what should I avoid after?
As with any injection you may experience mild bruising and swelling which should resolve in a few days. It is best to avoid touching your face, direct sunlight, wearing make-up, and high intensity physical activity for 24 hours.
